We are launching a Solar Panel Initiative aimed at transitioning our campus to renewable energy. This project will not only reduce our carbon footprint but also serve as a living laboratory for our students to learn about sustainable practices.
Why Solar Energy?
The Bahamas faces unique challenges due to its geographical location, including high energy costs and vulnerability to climate change. By adopting solar energy, we aim to:
- Reduce Energy Costs: Lower our electricity bills, allowing more funds to be allocated to educational programs.
- Promote Sustainability: Decrease our reliance on fossil fuels and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
- Enhance Education: Provide students with hands-on learning experiences in renewable energy technologies.
Fundraising Goal: $100,000
Our goal is to raise $100,000 to cover:
- Solar Panel Installation: Procurement and installation of solar panels across our campus buildings.
- Battery Storage Systems: Ensure energy reliability during outages and peak usage times.
- Educational Resources: Develop curriculum materials and workshops focused on renewable energy and sustainability.
- Maintenance and Monitoring: Establish systems to maintain and monitor the solar energy infrastructure.
